Affordable neighbourhoods in Barrie

When it comes to the home buying process, choosing the right neighbourhood is just as important as choosing the right home. Your neighborhood influences your lifestyle, your ties to the community, and contributes to your overall satisfaction with your home. When looking at different areas, it’s important to have an idea of what you want from your neighbourhood. Do you want proximity to urban centres, restaurants, transit, or nature?  What about the presence of a strong school system? Are you looking for a new, modern complex or a more mature neighbourhood? These are just a few of the things you should consider when looking at your options.

Once you have a good idea of what you want from your neighbourhood, it’ll be much easier to narrow in on where you should begin looking for a home. To help simplify your search, we’ve compiled a list of affordable neighbourhoods in Barrie.

Ardagh Bluffs

Is access to nature an important attribute of your dream neighbourhood? Then Ardagh Bluffs might be right for you! With seven parks and 17 kilometres of recreational trails, there isn’t a shortage of outdoor activities to do in this area. Located in the western end of the city, Ardagh Bluffs is also a great place for young families, housing a combined total of 5 elementary and high school options. As of March 2019, the average home price in the Ardagh Bluffs area sat at $457,940

Holly

Outdoor enthusiasts may also find Holly to be a desirable neighbourhood in Barrie. Bordering the Essa Township, proximity to Ardagh Bluff trails and the Tangle Creek Golf Club ensures there is a lot of activity nearby for residents. A recreation centre and four schooling options render Holly a favourite among families as well. With an average selling price of $462,283, there is sure to be a home for you in Holly!

Mapleview

One of the fastest-growing areas of Barrie, Mapleview has a lot to offer! Residents do not have to stray far for great shopping with quick access to Park Place Plaza and many big-box stores. Furthermore, with a lot of new residential developments underway, there is a large selection of different home options for buyers. For the golf-inclined, Innisbrook Golf Course is a nearby amenity for Mapleview residents.

Painswick

Located at the southern end of the city, Painswick is a great option for families and those working in Toronto. Close proximity to the Barrie South Go Train makes commuting a breeze, and access to a lot of shopping and restaurants ensures there is a lot to do in Painswick! Families make up a large portion of the Painswick demographic, with a variety of schools, parks, and the Public library nearby. In March 2019, the average selling price for a Painswick hone was $476,841.

Bonus: Waterfront Living in Shanty Bay

Bonus neighbourhood! One of my favourite areas located just outside of Barrie is Shanty Bay. While the average homes in Shanty Bay are slightly more expensive than some of the other neighbourhoods listed, homebuyers can still find affordable properties in the area. Featuring beautiful lakefront properties, homes in Shanty Bay are in large demand for citizens of Barrie. Shanty Bay is also home to two golf courses, Shanty Bay & Heritage Hills Golf Clubs.
